Who should take the test?

You are considering to start a Keto diet? Good for you, as the weight loss effect is a great thing of this high-fat, low-carb diet that makes your body incredibly efficient at burning fat.

At the same time, the Keto diet can also have a positive impact on your inflammation levels. Therefore, if you are suffering from the typical symptoms of inflammations in your body, our Keto Inflammation Test will help you to validate if there are indeed (chronic or acute) inflammatory reactions in your body and whether a Keto diet might be a good relief for you.

The test analyzes the values of the following analytes:

  • hs-CRP
  • Alpha-1-antitrypsin
  • secretory IgA (sIgA)
  • Calprotectin
  • Lysozyme
How does it work?

You collect the samples at home, send them back to us and we will provide you with your level of each marker and whether your level falls within the reference ranges for your age. In addition to that, the results include graphs showing whether your levels are in the “green” (=normal/healthy) or “red” (=too high/low) area, making it easy to understand the results.

What will my results tell me?

Your results will provide detailed information about whether your inflammatory levels (5 markers) are normal, low, or high compared to reference ranges in your age group. You can then discuss the results with your doctor or health practitioner, who can give you further guidance and treatment recommendations.

What guidance will I get along with my results?

We always recommend the discussion of the mailed results with your doctor or practitioner. Besides, further information is available on our website, especially in the different test categories, under “health conditions” and the FAQs. Still have questions? Then you can contact us by mail at

Test measures
For the Keto Inflammation Test we analyze:
  • hs-CRP
  • Alpha-1-antitrypsin
  • secretory IgA (sIgA)
  • Calprotectin
  • Lysozyme
Hs-C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP)

Released into the blood by the liver in response to inflammation. High levels of hs-CRP can indicate the existence of a variety of inflammatory diseases.

A protein whose production is increased whenever there are inflammations. Reflects the permeability of the gut during inflammatory processes and is an indicator for Leaky Gut Syndrome.

Secretory IgA (sIgA)

sIgA is an immune protein, which reacts anti-inflammatory. Low levels of fecal sIgA increase the risk of leaky gut syndrome and of inflammatory immune reactions to undigested food and protein.

A protein released by the immune system in proportion to the severity of existing (acute and chronic) inflammation. High levels indicate the existence of inflammation.

Is produced by the cells of the innate immune system and secreted into the gut lumen. Elevated levels of lysozyme indicate inflammatory bowel processes and diseases.

Symptoms the Keto Inflammation Test is suitable for:
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Leaky Gut Syndrome
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Food intolerances
  • Headaches

I did the test on advice of my health coach before I started a 3-months keto diet. Sample collection was surprisingly easy. You really only need a few drops of blood. Some values were worse than I expected, but I will do another test after the 3 months annd I can’t wait to see the changes.

I’ve had problems with chronic inflammation (and leaky gut) for a long time. Unfortunately, it was only after several years that I learned what role the right diet has. And that I might be able to get rid of my symptoms by going keto. I did the test to chheck my levels before and after the diet change. Especially the alpha-1-antitrypsin and the SIgA value have improved extremely after 6 months. And I feel it too! I will definitely keep going and I can only recommend this test to anyone suffering from leaky gut.

I’m a big fan of the keto diet and I think it’s a shame most people only know about the weight loss aspects, when it also has amazing effects on your health. That’s why I like this test! You should definitely do this before starting a keto diet. That way you can see the results the diet has on the inflammation levels of your body.

Most tests on the market only check whether your body is in ketosis. But I wanted a test that shows what ketosis does to my body. That’s why I chose this test and I don’t regret it. I would encourage everyone to try keto for some time and see what it doess for your health. My results have improved a lot (I repeated the test after a while) and you can clearly see that keto is not just for losing weight! Which I did, btw.

I suffered from IBS (irretable bowel syndrome) quite some time, before I went keto. My doctor suggested this kind of test to me and I chose Verisana because their Keto Inflammation Test included all the important markers I was looking for. 4 stars becausee it’s kind of expensive, but still it’s a great test and I recommend it to anyone with inflammatory diseases. And by the way, my symtoms got A LOT better after doing this. I will continue the keto diet and maybe check on my inflammation levels again after some time.

Any Questions?

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding this test. Your question is missing? Please contact us at:

What exactly is the Keto Inflammation Test?

The Keto Inflammation Test is a helpful tool designed to measure inflammation levels in the body using a combination of stool and blood spot samples. It assesses levels of five scientifically validated markers: hs-CRP, Alpha-1-antitrypsin, secretory IgA (sIgA), Calprotectin, and Lysozyme.

Why should I consider taking the Keto Inflammation Test?

If you are considering starting a ketogenic diet or experiencing symptoms of inflammation, the Keto Inflammation Test can provide valuable information. It helps to assess whether there are inflammatory reactions in your body, both chronic and acute, and whether adopting a ketogenic diet might be beneficial for reducing inflammation levels.

Isn't keto just for people who want to lose weight?

No. A keto diet not only helps you lose weight, it also helps fight and cure inflammation. Due to the reduced sugar intake, the high quality fatty acids and the formation of ketone bodies, a strong anti-inflammatory effect can be achieved.

What is the significance of high values for the markers measured in the test?

Elevated levels of the markers analyzed in the Keto Inflammation Test may indicate the presence of inflammation in the body. If these markers are high, it suggests that adopting a ketogenic diet may be beneficial for reducing inflammation levels and improving overall health.

What are the effects of high inflammation values?

Inflammation, especially in the intestine, can e.g. lead to a leaky gut or irritable gut syndrome, causing symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite or food allergies. Smoking, a weak immune system, an unhealthy diet or antibiotics can be the cause.
