Who should take the test?

Iron is mainly responsible for the vital transport of oxygen. With the help of iron, the oxygen absorbed via the lungs is bound to the blood pigment hemoglobin in the red blood cells (erythrocytes). In this way, the oxygen is distributed throughout the body to the individual cells to generate energy.

Women have twice the iron demand of men. The increased iron demand in women is caused in particular by menstruation, pregnancy and lactation.

In addition, vegans, vegetarians, athletes and people with intestinal problems that hinder the absorption of nutrients from food (e.g. celiac disease) are frequently affected by an iron deficiency.

The ferritin value indicates your iron status in your body and can help detect a deficiency early.

How does it work?

You collect the sample from the comfort of your home, send it to our lab and will receive the lab results, including dettailed information about your ferritin status.

What guidance will I get along with my results?

Your report will contain detailed information about your ferritin level and whether it is normal or too low (compared to the respective reference range for your age group). You can then discuss these results with your physician or practitioner, who can advise you on how to proceed and on the various therapy options.

We and our partner laboratories (who may be contracted by us to conduct some or all analyses of your test) take customer privacy very seriously.
