Who should take the test?
Chlamydia and gonorrhea are known as co-existing infections because individuals are frequently infected with both at the same time, which is why it is important to test for both of these sexually transmitted diseases together. Both infections are caused by bacteria and are tested for using vaginal swabs.
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United Kingdom. It can cause serious, permanent damage to a woman’s reproductive system. This can make it difficult or impossible for a woman to get pregnant later on. Chlamydia can also cause a potentially fatal ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy that occurs outside the womb).
Gonorrhea is a very common sexually transmitted disease, especially among young people ages 15-24 years. It can cause infections in the genitals, rectum, and throat. If not treated, gonorrhea is associated with complications that may result in infertility. There is a high prevalence of co-infection with chlamydia trichomatis and an increased susceptibility to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Women under 25 and older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners, or a sex partner who has a sexually transmitted infection, need testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea every year.
How does it work?
You collect the sample (vaginal swab), send it back to us and we will provide you with information about your STD status. If you test positive, you should talk to a doctor about treatment options to avoid passing an infection to a partner.
What guidance will I get along with my results?
After you get tested, it’s important for you to find out the result of your test so that you can talk to a doctor about treatment options if one or several of the tested STDs were detected. Still have questions? Then you can contact us by mail at email@example.com. Please note that we reserve the right to collaborate with certified partner laboratories.
How is my privacy protected?
Our STD Tests are taken in the privacy of your own home. We and our partner laboratories (who may be contracted by us to conduct some or all analyses of your test) take customer privacy very seriously. Only you will have access to this information and we will not share your information with any not authorized third party. All samples are disposed of following analysis.
